V1.1 Launch


We bring you version 1.1!!!!! :3

Now with a new dash upgrade, resetable progress, a new vertical level, upgrade descriptions, more bugfixes.

Changes

  • We added a new level! And it goes vertically 👀 3d0b894
  • We also added a new upgrade! It's a dash, it makes the screen scroll faster for a brief moment. c5552659c07a67
  • There's now a movement tutorial in the main menu. 4450bf6
  • Removed the colliders from the images for each menu option. (Yes this was an intentional feature, I don't know why I decided this was a great idea). a7ddcf7
  • Each shop item now has description text at the top of the screen, once you get close to the upgrade. (Hitbox is larger than the one used for buying it) 401bc3c
  • Added arrow keys support. (Because for some reason someone was asking for this, also no this won't be in the tutorial but you can use the arrow keys if you really want to). d01d14c
  • You can now return to the main menu from the shop, don't worry, your progress will be saved as usual. 2d15eaf
  • You can reset your progress in the main menu by touching the "Reset progress" button. a1e7f4a

Balancing

  • Golden berries have been nerfed in value. Previously they were 5 each, now they are 3.
    However, the unlock for golden berries has been reduced to 15 from 25.
    You can now also upgrade the Golden berries once more to double their value from 3 to 6, the cost for this upgrade is 35 berries.
    So 15 for the first, 35 for the second, so cumulative 50 to unlock its full potential. 048724e
  • Player hitbox size has been reduced, to give the player more leniency. 5651d0fcf8b4e7
  • To compensate for player hitbox scaling, berry hitboxes have now been made larger. dee43d3

Bug fixes

Known issues

  • Speed of the player is wonkier now (in general faster), could be that it's partially frame-rate dependent again due to switching from adding to transform to rb.velocity. (Movement functionality was changed in 76682c3)
  • You can still clip into terrain using Hail Mary, but not in the same way. The Hail Mary powerup is too dumb to know where to properly put the parrot, it always puts in a certain amount of x coordinates behind the current x coordinate, if on that x coordinate there is terrain, it'll clip into it.
  • Text becoming green upon interaction is still bugged, it for some reason does not drain. I couldn't fix this because this bug is hard to reproduce in the editor, but it seems to be consistently bugged in the builds.

Gameplay bug fixes

  • Player no longer teleports backwards after dying when you don't have a Hail Mary. 6a9a502
  • There's a wall behind the starting area now so you can no longer go out of bounds if you've enough speed. ea11235
  • You can no longer clip through any terrain. 76682c3
  • Vastly improved the performance, we now use composite colliders for our tile map which runs a lot better. f54018c

UI bug fixes

  • Menu options are now no longer interactable whilst the credits menu is open. a7ddcf7
  • The back button in credits will no longer still be green upon returning to the credits menu for the second time. a7ddcf7
  • The back button in credits has its hitbox properly match its text now. a7ddcf7
